Grown Up Party Food

It was my lovely Father’s 70th birthday on Saturday night. He has lived life to the full, travelling, eating and drinking with friends and family. I was keen to make some of his favourite things for the party. He has a soft spot for a drop of good red wine, smelly cheese, winter fruits and the darkest of chocolate. I started with pears poached in red wine and spices to accompany a board of gooey, delectable cheese with dried fruits and nuts. This was a great opportunity to style the food to give a little more than what is expected. To get out in the garden and find plants and flowers that are in season and add colour and texture to the plate. Take a look and let me know what you think. Next, for the birthday cake….
